Life Update

Today I was blessed with a day off. When I received it I thought, What can I get done?. But today was more of a time for me to just take it easy. This morning, I woke up late, but I didn’t panic because on Sunday a majority of everyone is not working, which meant traffic wasn’t going to be as heavy. Tennessee has the worst drivers in my opinion.

Yesterday, I surprised my wife Courtni with flowers and a gift bag of goodies in honor of Sweetest Day. What is Sweetest Day? On October 19, it is an opportunity for all to do generous acts for someone. To those who are single, it’s not limited to spouses and significant others. You can do sweet acts for family members, friends, and strangers. It is a reminder for us all to be sweet towards everyone not just on that day, but on the daily.

Last Friday morning, I started off with a prayer for focus. Why- because I tend to get sidetracked often. Blessedly I have a friend named Jesus who keeps His mind on everything that needs to be done. Before her shift, Courtni gave me a warm cup of apple cider from Starbucks. It was just the sweet boost I needed as I stepped out into the 30 degree air this morning to go the store

I am grateful for all I was able to get done before sunset.

  • Sweeping
  • Cleaned the glass
  • Took out the trash
  • Scrubbed the toilet and tub.
  • Decided on an activity to do for church program tomorrow
  • Dishes
  • Bought some new glass 9×13 pans
  • Cooked food for tomorrow’s church potluck

It wasn’t all task and no chill. I got hooked on yet another Netflix show. This one is called Outland, a competition series about four competing teams who rough it out in the brutal climates and woods of Alaska. The winning team gets $1 million. This is great television. From players scratching for a spark of fire, to searching for clean water and good protein, to being civil amongst one another. As a person who grew up camping, I have no problem being away from a nice warm bed. However, no amount of money is going to get me to risk hypothermia or resort to eating a mouse for protein. More power to those who are brave enough to do so. This show makes the show Survivor look like a school field day. (Another show I love to watch.) On this show you can only win as a team, and if you have to get medical attention you are eliminated from the competition.

A couple weeks ago, I was blessed to do special music at church with a couple of my other church members. Traditional hymns are timeless, but there is plenty of room in church for less traditional music, so long as the message is pointing to Christ. My hope is that more church members will use their talents to minster unto others, as I have been called forth to do so.

Great Are You Lord(cover)

My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has heard my prayers. I’m going to be a father. Courtni and I are pregnant! I still replay that day in my head of when I received the news. I don’t think I had ever dialed up my wife quick enough as soon after she shared the image of a positive pregnancy test. It was the best news I could have gotten after making my last delivery at the end of a route. Six years ago we just two people meeting up for a coffee date. Now- parents.

Twice we’ve got to see this little child on the ultrasound without a care in the world. Twice I have cried at the sight of our little peach. Such a good heart beat this one has. I ponder if this is the same overwhelming feeling my father had for me and my three siblings when he saw us in the womb for the first time. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that our little one is going have all the love in this world. I’ve got a lot to learn as I am a first timer, but this is learning that I for sure am going to be invested in. Lastly, I do know that Jesus is going to be with me in this chapter of my life, just as He has taken me by the hand and watched my back in the past.
