My Good Friday

If I share how my Good Friday went you must share how yours went.

  • Made the bed.
  • Found my wedding ring.
  • Got my car washed and wondered if anybody but those waiting tables in restaurants should be getting tips.
  • I tried a new dessert recipe that turned out amazing
  • Explored the pages app on my phone. It could be a good tool in my writing.
  • Had a nice family dinner outing with the wife and child.
  • On the road, my wife and I beheld a gorgeous glow in the sky of the sun shining through the clouds.
  • Before Friday night vespers, my daughter and I had the church to ourselves, where I had the chance to just praise as loud as I wanted to. I love a room with great acoustics.
  • I sat with my family in Christ for Friday night vespers service. The short message tonight was on the gift of speech. To summarize, some of us are blessed with the gift to move others with our words, but we must be wise with what we say, how we say it, and who we say it to. For we have the ability to bring someone closer to Christ or to cause more harm than good with just by speaking. Before we dove into the message my father commented how Christmas
  • I went on Facebook for about five minutes. As I predicted, I didn’t miss a single thing. I’ve been on a social media fast to just focus on what really matters- Christ, family, work, school, and hobbies. When I scroll and scroll I tend to not get anything done. Even worse, I tend to compare myself to others and forget how blessed I am. That’s a danger of social media.
  • I reflected on how last Easter our daughter came into this world.
April 2025
April 2026

Isn’t it remarkeable how we don’t know the exact day of Jesus’s birth, but all the world knows the day of his crucifixion? Maybe there’s a reason for that. Our Jesus sacrificed his life, took on our filth, so we wouldn’t have to pay for how dirty we are on the inside. Can you imagine dying for someone’s sins? I get frustrated just when people yell at me for parking on the side of the road as I deliver packages.

Picture a man bleeding from head to toe. A crown of thorns beaten into his head. His flesh raw and exposed from being whipped. Thick spikes driven through his hands and feet. Hanging half naked on a wooden cross as people mock him, after he’s done so many wonders for them. Perhaps our Jesus wants us to remember His self sacrifice much more than His birth. Let us also remember how He lived, what He taught us, His victory over death and His adversary, and the promise that He is coming back for us soon.

Have a Happy Resurrection Day!
