Red is the Color

Growing up in an Adventist home, going to church in a pair of jeans was not an option, at least not in my parents’ house, so everyone in the household dressed their best for God’s house. And I positively love dressing up.

On Saturday March 5, 2017, my church attire was a red Falcone Fashion Suit (Styles of New York), with a white dress shirt(Belk). Some would say that wearing bright red to a church is like dresssing like the devil himself, but I disagree, because as an old church song goes,

“Red is the color of the blood that flowed
Down the face of someone who loved us so.

He’s the perfect man, He’s the Lord’s own son

He’s the Lamb of God, He’s the Only One

That can give us life, that can make us grow

That can make the love between us flow.”

Black as I’ve learned goes with just about everything. Accompanying the suit were a pair of D’Italo Black Mens Leather Upper dress shoes(Styles of New York), black dress socks, and a black belt. Shielding my eyes from the sun were a pair of black Solar Shields, which can be worn over regular glasses.

Every good suit needs a good tie right? Around my neck was a Steven Harris red tie, with a positive message from Matthew 22:37, which reads, “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, an with all thy mind”. You can find religious themed ties on Amazon or places such as your local Christian book store.

The closest thing to jewelry I ever wear are tie clips. My favorite one which I own is definitely my gold Mens Prayer Hands Tie Bar clip. It’s fitting because I consider myself a prayer warrior.

To my fellow church goers, if you’ve got the clothes, dress your best for Christ! God bless.

By David Harris

I was born on January 31, 1992. I graduated from Austin Peay State University in December 2015 with a B.S. My major was Communications, with a concentration in Print & Web Journalism. My minor was English, with a concentration in Creative Writing. Writing is my passion. I’m a book lover. I prefer to to be called a Booklion rather than a bookworm. Why- lions are mightier.
My first love is Jesus Christ. I was raised in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. No we are not a cult. We are Christians who worship on Saturday.
I have been stuttering since I was four, but through Christ I have persevered through it and will continue to do so. I’m not thing with Him.
Singing is another passion of mine. God blessed with me with the gift of song, which I am grateful for.

Give of your best to the MASTER. Give of the strength of your youth. Clad in salvation’s true armor. Join in the battle for truth. Yes. So glad your parents instilled in you to dress in proper attire and reserve your best for God when entering into His house, but keep in mind that God’s house is not a fashion show either. So keep your priorities straight. Someday you may head for the mission field where you will of necessity have to shed the fancy duds for simpler attire. God bless you dear young man. Serve God with all your heart. He is more interested in your heart than your clothes.
