Calm Friday Night #3

Happy Sabbath and Happy Friday, friends. It’s not just any Friday. It’s Good Friday, the day to commemorate what Christ did for humanity on Calvary all those years ago- dying on a cross, bearing the weight of the world. I would like to thank him for dying for me all those many years, just so I would have a chance to be saved. I can only imagine the combined anguish of being spat upon, curse at, whipped, and pierced. When I think of his sacrifice I think also of the song “You Paid It All” by gospel singer Wess Morgan, who bears his soul about what Christ did for us. I encourage you to listen to the song.

Sunday

On Sunday I applied for an open reporter position in Murfreesboro, TN, which is a distance from Clarksville. One of my good friend, who is a reporter and church, informed me about the position last week. At first I wasn’t going to apply because I didn’t think I had fit one of the requirements. Some of these employers are really high on finding candidates with plenty of experience. But my parents reassured me that my combined experience in both college and high school might give me a sporting chance.

My father told me a long time ago that the field of study I chose would be a challenging one, because there are only so many people who become news reporters(news writers), but I’m glad he allowed me to make my own choices; choose my own path. I don’t regret going to college for four years as a communications major. From where I’m standing, those years in the Communications and English departments of Austin Peay State University have made me an exceptional writer(or maybe above average. I don’t like to boast). What about you? Do you think you chose the right path? Not just school wise, but in general.

Later this Sunday afternoon I went to church to attend a financial class hosted by our pastor. I will admit that I have a lot to learn financial wise. This year was the first I did taxes, and even that was a learning process. Throughout my high school and college career, I don’t remember being taught about how to do taxes; stock, investments; income; and et cetera. They say school prepares you for the world, but there is more to the world then finding a career. Am I right?

Monday

Monday morning I started the morning off feeling frustrated after going to the gym. Out of courtesy, I won’t specify what happened. But I offer you some words of encouragement. If somebody is being rude to you, don’t hesitate to call them out on it. Tell them how you feel. You don’t have to get vulgar or physical with it, but you’re not doing yourself any favors by letting anyone disrespect you when you’ve done nothing to provoke them to do so.

Thursday

I now have over 50 followers! Thank you all. To all my new followers I say hello. I may post something later so we can get to know each other more, because for me every person is like a book ready to be read. I say this to all my followers, I look forward to reading more of your work, and I appreciate that you take the time to read mine.

Friday

Before work I made a change to my blog. I changed the theme from Orvis to Scratchpad. I wanted something that had a bit of a writers’ vibe to it, and Scratchpad seemed the best contender with its pencils and paperclips. Also, I added an archives and calendar widget so all of you and myself can keep better track of what I share. I hope you like the changes!

How was your week? I wanna know! Once again, Happy Friday. God Bless!

I was born on January 31, 1992. I graduated from Austin Peay State University in December 2015 with a B.S. My major was Communications, with a concentration in Print & Web Journalism. My minor was English, with a concentration in Creative Writing. Writing is my passion. I’m a book lover. I prefer to to be called a Booklion rather than a bookworm. Why- lions are mightier.
My first love is Jesus Christ. I was raised in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. No we are not a cult. We are Christians who worship on Saturday.
I have been stuttering since I was four, but through Christ I have persevered through it and will continue to do so. I’m not thing with Him.
Singing is another passion of mine. God blessed with me with the gift of song, which I am grateful for.
