I’m proud to be part of a multicultural church. My church is a melting pot swirling with different skin tones; accents; dialects and languages; and endless knowledge of different cultures, all being stirred by Christ. For as long as I can remember I have been exposed to different cultures in God’s house.

Don’t get me wrong I am aware that there are Hispanic churches, Korean churches, etc, and churches that are dubbed “black churches”/“white churches” due to them being predominantly African American/Caucasian , but I’m pretty sure this is moreso because of language reasons and because of the community where those churches reside. If there are other reasons please educate me, because I don’t know it all.

A while ago on a radio talk, a question was presented: are multicultural churches necessary?

We need churches to be like this because as we’ve seen in the Bible, anyone of any nationality can be a believer and be worthy of the Lord’s compassion. In Mark 7, Christ answered the plea of a gentile woman whose daughter had been possessed by a demon. Also, let us not forget in Matthew 7 of Christ answering the plea of a Roman centurion, an enemy and oppressor of the Jews. That centurion told Christ he was not worthy to have Christ in his household. Instead he believed Jesus could heal his servant just by speaking it, and as he believed it was made so. The faith of that centurion was so great that Jesus remarked how He had not seen anyone in all Israel with such faith. Christ’s help and compassion is not for one one ethnic group, but for all.

If you truly believe a house of God would be better off with people surrounded by only saints of their own color or nationality, then chances are you’re not going to like Heaven, because I have yet to see anything in the Bible that says that the everlasting Kingdom is segregated.
