Hello everyone. Yes I been quiet for a whole month. I have been adjusting to a new job and the you- know- what pandemic has put a damper on my mood. But I refuse to let circumstances stop me from doing what I love any longer.
Due to my church being closed this long for precautions, I have had to really step up to feeding myself spiritually. Not that I shouldn’t have been doing that already, but sometimes we rely too much on church services to be spiritually woken up. My time away from a building has reminded me to do this at all times. And during my isolation God has blessed me with an idea.
Over a month ago, I noticed upon my dresser a small black and white box which once housed a birthday gift from a friend. I also happened to have some colored construction paper laying around from a church activity. With a pen in my right hand and my eyes glancing an open bible to my left, I jotted down a verse on a yellow sheet of paper. The verse was Psalm 16:1, and it reads,
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.”
Taking a pair of scissors, I sliced around those words until they were in a palm sized rectangle. After five minutes of scanning those words, and reciting them, I was able to say them from memory. But I was not ready to go about my night just yet. What do these words mean to me, I ask.
I told myself aloud that these words remind that God can and will look out for me. I just have to do my part by trusting in Him.

I then drop the rectangle into the empty box? which would become the residence of many other multicolored rectangles wearing scriptures.

At least twice a week I try to jot down a verse. Maybe I get them by going straight into the Bible myself. Maybe they’re tied into the daily church sabbath lesson. Perhaps I get them from peers online. At first I wanted to be able to recite the words from memory, but now I care much more about having the message engrained in my heart, rather than just glued in my head. What does this mean to me, I always ask.

Church or no church we are responsible for giving ourselves a daily dose of Him, so what are you waiting for? Find an empty box, and drop a verse.
